The US GFS model is showing a potential area in the Gulf of Mexico where a storm could develop. The intensity of this storm cannot be told yet, however the model indicates that this storm could go and impact the Florida penninsula. This storm could possibly move up the East Coast, however strengthening is not likely due to the "colder" (word used loosely) ocean temperatures.
Regardless of whether or not this system develops, it is showing that the hurricane season is becoming active already. If the storm develops and gets winds greater than 39 mph, it would be named Arthur. Peak GFS winds are around 45 mph when impacting Florida.
Hurricane season starts June 1st!
